Ο Ευάγγελος Φωτιάδης γεννήθηκε στα Τρίκαλα της Θεσσαλίας τον Φεβρουάριο του 1909. Το 1926 εισήχθη στη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Παράλληλα εργαζόταν ως υπάλληλος στο αναγνωστήριο της Εθνικής Βιβλιοθήκης της Ελλάδος στο οποίο αργότερα έγινε επόπτης. Το 1954 μέχρι το 1964 έγινε Γενικός Διευθυντής της Εθνικής Βιβλιοθήκης και παράλληλα δίδασκε ιστορικά μαθήματα σε Στρατιωτικές Σχολές. Πραγματοποίησε δεκάδες ομιλίες από το Εθνικό Ίδρυμα Ραδιοφωνίας και την Εταιρεία Φίλων του Λαού. Στη διάρκεια της Χούντας των Συνταγματαρχών διορίστηκε Γενικός Διευθυντής του Εθνικού Θεάτρου και μέλος της Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής. Πέθανε στις 8 Αυγούστου 1973.

August 8, 1973 died: Evangelos Fotiadis Greek philologist and historian Evangelos Fotiadis was born in Trikala, Thessaly, in February 1909. In 1926, he entered the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens. At the same time he worked as an employee in the reading room of the National Library of Greece where he later became a supervisor. In 1954 until 1964 he became General Director of the National Library and at the same time taught history courses in Military Schools. He gave dozens of speeches for the National Broadcasting Foundation and the Society of Friends of the People. During the Junta of the Colonels he was appointed General Director of the National Theater and a member of the Advisory Committee. He died on August 8, 1973.
